Our story
Carenne Support Limited was established in 2002 by a group of dedicated teachers, therapists and parents associated with Carenne Special School in Bathurst.
This group recognised a critical gap in therapy services and funding for specialised equipment for school aged children with special needs in the Bathurst, Lithgow and Oberon areas
In 2004 CSL purchased a single bus and secured a contract from the Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP) to provide individualised transport to and from school for students attending Carenne School. Profits from the operation of the bus service enabled CSL to employ a team of therapists to support school aged children with disabilities to maximise their potential.
Since 2013 therapy services and specialised assistive technology equipment for eligible students at Carenne has been funded by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This change has meant that CSL could divert its funding to other innovative projects to meet the unique needs of families of children living with disability who fall through the NDIS funded supports.
Today CSL has expanded its bus fleet to include five mini buses and a larger coaster bus and has grown its transport services, significantly increasing the amount of funding it can provide to the local disability community.
In October 2025 CSL proudly rebranded their organisation under the new name of Suppoya that has its origin in the phrase “support you”.
Suppoya’s vision is to enhance the lives of people of all ages, not just school children, who live with a disability in the wider Bathurst area.
